...After Gutenberg's invention of movable type printing in the mid-15th century, single-page prints of the news, called "Flug blatts," were sold on the streets.

These were published irregularly, but in the 17th century, weekly printed newspapers, the ancestors of modern newspapers, were born, such as the German Relation (1609), the English Weekly News (1622), and the French La Gazette (1631, later the Gazette de France).
