A former town in Kuga County in the southeastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is connected to Oshima Island by the Oshima Bridge across the Ohata Strait. The Sanyo Main Line runs through it. Cultivation of Unshu mandarins is thriving here, and fishing, such as line-and-line fishing for sea bream, is also practiced here.
