Shigeo Mizuno

Shigeo Mizuno
Born: November 13, 1899 in Shizuoka
[Died] May 4, 1972.
A businessman from the Showa period. After graduating from Tokyo Imperial University, he joined the Japanese Communist Party and worked at the Industrial and Labor Research Institute. In 1927, he was sent to the Comintern's Far Eastern Politburo as a representative of the Japanese Communist Party and participated in the establishment of the Wuhan government in China, but was arrested in the March 15 Incident in 1928 and converted to Christianity while in prison the following year. In 1940, he founded the Dai Nippon Saisei Paper Company, and after the company was absorbed into a national pulp company, he became its president. He later served as president of Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, Nippon Broadcasting, the Sankei Shimbun, Fuji Television, and other companies.

昭和期の実業家。東京帝国大学を卒業後,日本共産党に入党し,産業労働調査所に勤務。 1927年,日本共産党を代表してコミンテルン極東政治局に派遣され,中国の武漢政府の樹立に参画するが,28年の三・一五事件で検挙され,翌年獄中で転向。 40年に大日本再生製紙会社を設立し,同社が国策パルプ会社に吸収されたのち,社長に就任。その後は文化放送,ニッポン放送,産業経済新聞社,フジテレビなどの社長を歴任した。
