Japanese: 大畑貝塚 - おおはたかいづか

An oceanic shell mound built in the middle to late Jomon period in Ohata, Shimokawa, Izumi-cho, Iwaki-shi, Fukushima Prefecture. It is located on a hill that juts out like a cape into the open sea at the southern end of Onahama Bay, and shell deposits can be found in three separate locations on the northern slope at an altitude of about 42m. Excavations were carried out between 1970 and 1972, and a large number of artifacts were discovered. In the lowest layer of Area B, a distinctive burial tomb of a middle-aged man from the Daigi 7b style period was discovered, who was presumed to have been a sorcerer. The shells that make up the shell layer are from the outer bay reefs.

福島県いわき市泉町下川字大畑にある縄文時代中期から後期に営まれた外洋性貝塚。小名浜湾南端の外海に岬嘴状に突出した丘陵上に位置し，標高42m内外の北斜面に3ヵ所にわかれて貝殻積成が認められる。1970‐72年に発掘調査が実施され，おびただしい遺物を検出した。B地区の最下層からは大木（だいぎ）7b式期の壮年男子の特色ある葬墓が発見され，呪術者的性格をもつ人物と推定された。貝層を構成する貝類は外湾岩礁性である。
