Ohata [town] - Ohata

Japanese: 大畑[町] - おおはた

A former town in the northern part of the Shimokita Peninsula, Shimokita District, Aomori Prefecture, centered around Ohata. The town is primarily engaged in squid fishing, but also farms salmon and trout. Manufacturing that processes fishery and forestry products is also thriving. Located at Yagen Onsen and Mount Osorezan in the south, the town is part of the Shimokita Peninsula Quasi-National Park. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Kawauchi Town, Wakinosawa Village, and Mutsu City in Shimokita District. Area: 235.59 ^km2 . Population: 9,605 (2003).

青森県下北郡，下北半島北部の旧町で，中心は大畑。イカの漁獲を主体とするが，サケ，マスの養殖も行う。漁林産物を加工する製造業も盛ん。薬研(やげん)温泉，南部に恐山(おそれざん)があり，下北半島国定公園に属する。2005年３月下北郡川内町，脇野沢村とむつ市へ編入。235.59km²。9605人（2003）。
