...There are about 120 species distributed in Africa and Asia, and they are often found in tropical forests. The browneared bulbul Hypsipetes amaurotis (illustration) is the species that has advanced the furthest north among the bulbuls, and is found in Japan, the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, and the Babuyan Islands at the northern tip of the Philippines. It is about 28 cm long, has a small head compared to its body, a long tail, and a slender body.
