Ootoyo [town] - Ootoyo
A town in Nagaoka County in northern Kochi Prefecture. Located in the Shikoku Mountains along the Yoshino River, the town has extensive forests and fields that produce timber. Silkworm farming is popular, and the town also produces rice and tea, and highland vegetables. The Dosan Line, Kochi Expressway, and National Route 32 run through the town from north to south. The town is home to the national treasure Yakushido Hall and the giant cedar tree (a special natural monument) at Yasaka Shrine. Area: 315.06 km2 . Population: 4,719 (2010).
