Coming from a line of Onmyo experts, he was trusted by Fujiwara no Nakamaro to read fortunes, but when he found out about Nakamaro's plans for rebellion, he reported him for fear of repercussions. After Nakamaro's Incident in 764, he was given the rank of Junior Fourth Rank Upper from Senior Seventh Rank, changed his surname to Sukune, and was appointed as Sahyoe no Sakukan Mimasaka no Kami. In March of the following year, 765, he was given land of merit along with Wake no Oji, but in August of the same year, he was implicated in Wake no Oji's rebellion, demoted to Hyuga no Kami, stripped of his title, and had his surname reverted to Ren. Furthermore, in 767, he was dismissed from his current position, and his books on Tenmon Onmyo and other subjects were confiscated by the government. However, after Dokyo's downfall, he was pardoned in 770 and returned to Kyoto, and the following year he became Onmyo no Kami, and in 771 he also became Aki no Kami. In the following year he remained in his current position, but ended his turbulent life in the midst of political struggles in the late Nara period due to his own skills. 没年:宝亀6.5.17(775.6.19) 生年:生年不詳 奈良後期の陰陽家。代々の陰陽家の出身で,藤原仲麻呂の信任を得て吉凶を占っていたが,仲麻呂の謀反計画を知り,累のおよぶことを恐れて密告した。天平宝字8(764)年の仲麻呂の変後,一躍正七位上から従四位上を授けられ,姓を宿禰に改め,左兵衛佐兼美作守に任ぜられた。翌天平神護1(765)年3月には和気王と共に功田を賜ったが,同年8月には和気王の謀反に連座して,日向守に左遷のうえ位封を奪われ,姓はもとの連に戻された。さらに神護景雲1(767)年には現職を解任され,所持する天文陰陽などの書を官に没収された。ところが道鏡失脚ののち,宝亀1(770)年に罪を許されて帰京し,翌年には陰陽頭,同5年には安芸守を兼ねた。翌6年現職のまま,自らの持つ技術の故,奈良時代後期の政争のなかで波乱の生涯を閉じた。<参考文献>宮崎健司「大津連首について」(『尋源』40号) (脊古真哉) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
