Gulf Stream

…the great ocean current that originates in the Florida Current on the east coast of North America, flows northeast from off the coast of Cape Hatteras to the south of the Newfoundland Peninsula, and transitions into the North Atlantic Current. It is also called the Gulf Stream or Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream was once called the Gulf Stream, including the Florida Current and the Antilles Current, but in that case it is now customary to distinguish them by calling them the Gulf Stream System.
