…Hittite was discovered to be a branch of the Indo-European language by Hrozní, which sent shock waves through the Western academic world. After the decipherment, the clay tablet documents excavated at Boğazköy (the Boğazköy documents) were studied by F. Sommer, E. Forrer, Friedrich J. Friedrich, A. Goetze and others, and Hittite studies were established as an independent academic field. Furthermore, Friedrich wrote the Hittite Dictionary (1852-1854), which was a tentative culmination of the work. …
