The Buffalo Bill Show was organized in 1883 by the American Buffalo Bill. It was a show that presented the real-life wilderness of the West, and featured outdoor performances of cowboys on horseback, lassoing (rodeo) and gunfighting, as well as scenes of Indian stagecoach attacks and cavalry rescues. It also featured female marksman Annie Oakley and Sioux chief Sitting Bull, and toured Europe to great acclaim. However, it declined due to mismanagement and the rise of film, and was dissolved in 1913. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
