In Greek legend, the daughter of King Oedipus of Thebes and his mother, Jocasta. When Oedipus became blind and left the country, she accompanied her father on his journey and cared for him until his death at Colonus, near Athens. From OedipusOedipus is the son of Laios, King of Thebes, and Jocaste. Laios had received a prophecy that if he had a son, he would kill his father. When Laios' wife gave birth to a boy, he had the baby pierced with a pin and abandoned in the mountains.
