Etymologically, the word comes from the "hipster" that was popular in the 1950s, and originally meant "someone sensitive to modern sensibilities" or "someone with true feelings". When A. Ginsberg sang "angel-headed hipsters" at the beginning of "Howl" (1956) and Norman Mailer discussed hipsters in detail in "Advertisement for Myself" (1959), hipster had already begun to have a meaning similar to hippie. ...
