Japanese: クサヒバリ(草雲雀) - クサヒバリ（英語表記）Paratrigonidium bifasciatum

An insect of the Orthoptera family, family Larkidae (illustration). One of the singing insects. Adults appear from July to October and live on hedges and shrubs. Males sing during the day, making a continuous chirping sound. The name is derived from the beautiful sound of the song, which resembles the skylark. The body length is about 7 mm. The whole body is light yellowish brown. The horizontal stripes on the head, the horizontal stripes and spots on the pronotum, the several spots on the male's oval forewings, the front edges of the forewings, and the band-like pattern on the femur of each leg are all blackish brown. The antennae are long, more than twice the length of the body. Most of the male's forewings are taken up by the sound organs.

直翅目クサヒバリ科の昆虫（イラスト）。鳴く虫の一つ。成虫は7～10月に出現し，生垣や低木上にすみ，雄は日中よりチリリリリ……という連続音を出して鳴く。鳴声の美しさから，鳥のヒバリになぞらえこの名がある。体長7mm内外。全体が淡黄褐色。頭部の横縞，前胸背板の横縞や斑点，雄の楕円形をした前翅の数個の斑点，前翅の前縁部，各脚の腿節の帯状紋などが黒褐色である。触角は長く，体長の2倍以上ある。雄の前翅の大部分は発音器で占められている。
