This was the one-penny newspaper The New York Sun, published by Benjamin Day in 1833, and it can be said that the prototype of the modern newspaper was formed from the end of the 19th century to the 20th century. …

The publisher was Benjamin Harris, a Whig journalist who had been active in England, but who had emigrated to America after a literary scandal and opened a coffee shop and bookstore in Boston. Although the newspaper was modern in both format and content, it contained scandalous articles about the French king that were taboo to the authorities, and it was banned after just one issue. …
