A novel written by American lawyer, politician, and author Lew(is) Wallace (1827-1905). Published in 1880. The story is about a young Jewish nobleman named Ben-Hur in Bethlehem in the time of Jesus, who is falsely accused of plotting to assassinate an important person and sent to a galley, and then tricked by a man he thought was his friend, only to narrowly escape death. After a series of strange events, Ben-Hur finally comes to believe in the existence of Jesus.
