Buddlejaceae

...In China, the flowers and stems are used for medicinal purposes. The Buddlejaceae family consists of about 10 genera and 150 species, distributed mainly in the tropics. It was previously classified as part of the Streptomyces family, but it is distinguished by the fact that the vascular bundles are not arranged in a compound arrangement, that they have glandular hairs, and that the leaves are usually sawtoothed or notched. It has also been suggested that it is related to the Scrophulariaceae family based on endosperm formation, embryo development, and flower-visiting insects.
