In 1905, William T. Gray (1875-1968), who had played at Dublin University in Ireland, came to Japan as a priest at St. Andrew's Church in Iikura, Tokyo, and coached students at Keio University. In 1906, the Keio Hockey Club was founded. The following year, in 1907, the club played a match against the Yokohama Foreign Club, but it continued to struggle alone, and it was not until 1947 that the Army Toyama School finally accepted hockey.
