...The advocacy of laissez-faire was based on the understanding that only by eliminating mercantilist state interference and monopolies could traded wealth, especially agricultural products, be guaranteed a good price that would enable their normal reproduction, and as a result, on the one hand, the rent received by the landlord class would increase, and on the other hand, agricultural productivity would increase due to an increase in agricultural capital. The theory of single taxation on rent also argued that arbitrary tax burdens should be abolished and that the subject of taxation should be limited to the surplus value produced only in agriculture, that is, the net product, with the aim of avoiding a reduction in the reproduction of agricultural capital and, by extension, total social capital. The theoretical basis for this was the understanding that only the net product, which becomes the landlord's rent income, has the potential for free disposal, which is not directly necessary for reproduction.
