Obuse Chestnuts

Japanese: 小布施栗 - おぶせくり
Obuse Chestnuts
A regional brand of the Hokuriku, Koshinetsu region, Nagano prefecture.
They are mainly produced in Obuse Town, Kamitakai District. It is said that their cultivation began in the Muromachi period. The fertile, acidic soil and the climate with a large temperature difference between day and night are suitable for chestnut cultivation. They are large and shiny, and are mainly processed into Japanese sweets.

北陸甲信越地方、長野県の地域ブランド。
主に上高井郡小布施町で生産されている。その栽培は室町時代に始まったという。肥沃で酸性の土壌や昼夜の気温差がはげしい気候は栗の栽培に適する。大粒で艶があり、主に和菓子に加工される。
