A town in Chikujo County, on the eastern edge of Fukuoka Prefecture. It occupies a delta between the Yamakuni River and the Sai River, facing the Suo-Nada Sea. There are many rice paddies, and in addition to rice and wheat, vegetables are cultivated for the city of Kitakyushu. There is also coastal fishing and seaweed farming.
