Atago Shrine
[1] A shrine located on Mt. Atago in Saga Atago-cho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. Former prefectural shrine. The deities enshrined are Haniyamahime -no-mikoto , Wakumusubi -no-kami , Izanami -no-mikoto , Toyoukehime -no-mikoto, Amekumaushi-no-mikoto , and others. In 781 , Wake no Kiyomaro built the shrine building by imperial order of Emperor Kōnin and enshrined it as a deity protecting Heian-kyō. The god of fire is enshrined in the inner shrine and young shrine, and fire amulets are issued. It is the root shrine of the more than 800 Atago shrines nationwide as a fire prevention deity. It is worshipped in the Kinki region, Kanto, and Tohoku as well. A shrine listed in the Engishiki. Atago Gongen. Fire-Chalin Shrine. Hakuun-ji Temple. [2] A shrine located on Mt. Atago in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture. Former prefectural shrine. The deity worshipped is Homusubi no Kami . It is said that Sakanoue no Tamuramaro worshipped it in 801. [3] A shrine located on Mt. Kitamejo in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture. Former prefectural shrine. The deity worshipped is Homusubi no Okami . It was enshrined in 1584 by Mogami Dewa no Kami Yoshimitsu , lord of Yamagata Castle. Atago Gongensha. [4] A shrine located on Mt. Atago in Minato Ward, Tokyo. The deities worshipped are Homusubi no Kami, Mizuhame no Mikoto , Yamato Takeru no Mikoto , and Oyamatsumi no Mikoto. It was built by order of the shogunate in 1603. Atago-sama. [5] This shrine is located in Sadowara-cho, Miyazaki-gun, Miyazaki Prefecture. It was formerly a prefectural shrine. The deities worshipped are Honokagutsuchi -no-kami and Amanokoyane-no-mikoto . It is said to have been founded in 718 .

[一] 京都市右京区嵯峨愛宕町、愛宕山上にある神社。旧府社。祭神は埴山姫命(はにやまひめのみこと)、稚産日神(わくむすびのかみ)、伊弉冉命(いざなみのみこと)、豊受姫命(とようけひめのみこと)、天熊人命(あめくまうしのみこと)ほか。天応元年(七八一)和気清麻呂(わけのきよまろ)が光仁天皇の勅命により社殿を造営、平安京の鎮護の神としてまつられたもので、奥社と若宮に火の神をまつり火伏せのお守りを出す。防火の神として全国八百余の愛宕社の根本社。近畿一帯から関東、東北でも信仰される。延喜式内社。愛宕権現。鎮火神社。白雲寺。[二] 秋田県湯沢市愛宕山にある神社。旧県社。祭神は火産霊神(ほむすびのかみ)。延暦二〇年(八〇一)坂上田村麻呂がまつったと伝える。[三] 山形県天童市北目城山にある神社。旧県社。祭神は火産霊大神(ほむすびのおおかみ)。天正一二年(一五八四)山形城主の最上出羽守義光が勧請(かんじょう)。愛宕権現社。[四] 東京都港区愛宕山にある神社。祭神は火産霊神、罔象女命(みずはめのみこと)、日本武尊(やまとたけるのみこと)、大山津見命。慶長八年(一六〇三)幕府の命令で建立。あたごさま。[五] 宮崎県宮崎郡佐土原町にある神社。旧県社。祭神は火之伽具土神(ほのかぐつちのかみ)、天児屋根命(あまのこやねのみこと)。養老二年(七一八)の創建といわれる。
