A town in Mizuma County in the southern part of Fukuoka Prefecture, occupying the lowlands in the central Chikushi Plain. Thanks to an advanced network of irrigation and drainage channels and mechanization, it produces a lot of rice. Mushroom cultivation is also popular. Igusa cultivation and processing, and Kurume Kasuri (woven fabric) production are also thriving. The Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line runs through the town. 18.44 km2 . Population 14,350 (2010). 福岡県南部，筑紫平野中央部の低地を占める三潴(みづま)郡の町。発達した用排水路網と機械化により米を多産する。キノコ類の栽培も盛ん。イグサの栽培と加工，久留米絣(がすり)生産も盛ん。西鉄天神大牟田線が通じる。18.44km2。１万4350人（2010）。
