A town in Mizuma County in the southern part of Fukuoka Prefecture, occupying the lowlands in the central Chikushi Plain. Thanks to an advanced network of irrigation and drainage channels and mechanization, it produces a lot of rice. Mushroom cultivation is also popular. Igusa cultivation and processing, and Kurume Kasuri (woven fabric) production are also thriving. The Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line runs through the town. 18.44 km2 . Population 14,350 (2010).
