GAP - Gap

Japanese: GAP -
GAP - Gap
A standard given to agricultural products that meet certain criteria such as "quality," "safety," and "environmental friendliness." It is also called "Good Agricultural Practices." Its introduction is progressing in Europe, where "Eurep Gap" is treated as a major factor in quality assurance, making it difficult for agricultural products that are not GAP certified to enter the agricultural market. Even in Japan, where the introduction of GAP is lagging behind, doubts about the safety of agricultural products have been raised since the O157 problem, and agricultural product hygiene management manuals have begun to appear. Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries launched the "Fresh Agricultural Product Safety Assurance Measures Project" in 2004 and is promoting the introduction of GAP in production areas by holding "GAP Promotion Review Meetings" and "GAP National Training Sessions."
