An industrial complex has been developed around Tachibana Bay, which is included in the new industrial city, and operations have already begun. Benten Island, which has a coastline and tropical plant communities (a natural monument), belongs to the Muroto-Anan Coast Quasi-National Park. In March 2006, Naka District's Unoura Town and Nakagawa Town were incorporated. 279.25 km2 . 76,063 people (2010).
