Francien

...the language was formed in northern France by the Latin language brought by the ancient Romans, which underwent unique changes. Originally, it contained many dialects, but one of them, the dialect of the Île-de-France region centered on Paris (Francien), gained prestige after the 13th century against the backdrop of the expansion of royal power, and the written language based on this dialect, and then the spoken language, gained the status of the common language and national language of the whole of France. When simply saying French, it often refers to this common language, that is, common French.
