The name of a school of wood-cutting techniques for shipbuilding founded by Kawakami Izumi in the early Edo period. Together with the Sakai family of Osaka, Kawakami Izumi was a shipbuilder for the Tokugawa clan, engaged in the construction of military ships for the shogunate and the Owari domain.
