After the decline of the Frankish Kingdom, the Eastern Margraviate that gave birth to Austria, the invasions of the Magyars became more intense, but after Otto I repelled the Magyars, Holy Roman Emperor Otto II established the Ostmark in Bavaria in 976 as a measure against the Magyars. It is said that the name Austria was derived from this nickname. Source: Obunsha World History Dictionary, Third Edition About Obunsha World History Dictionary, Third Edition |
