This is a railway business operated by Oigawa Railway Co., Ltd., which was founded in 1925. It has the Oigawa Railway Main Line (39.5 km of operating distance) and the Ikawa Line (25.5 km of operating distance). The main line runs between Senzu and Kanaya in Shizuoka Prefecture, and the Ikawa Line runs between Senzu and Ikawa. 1925年に創立された大井川鐵道株式会社が運営する鉄道事業のこと。大井川鐵道本線(営業キロ数39.5km)と井川線(営業キロ数25.5km)がある。本線は静岡県の千頭―金谷間、井川線は千頭―井川間を運行している。本線は31年に全線開通、井川線は51年に営業開始。同社では1976年よりSLの運行を開始しており、2014年7月2日、機関車を擬人化した物語の人気キャラクター「きかんしゃトーマス」をあしらったSL(蒸気機関車)の試乗会を実施。1942年製造のSL「C11形」の227号機の先頭に強化プラスチックでできたトーマスの顔を取り付け、車体部分を青く塗っている。このきかんしゃトーマスをあしらったSLは同日より新金谷-千頭の間で運行を開始している。
