...This is the "daikane." The shape of the daikane for women is basically the same, but for men there are two types classified according to the shape of the back of the head: "aburatsuki" (a wig made by hardening the hair with oil and polishing it. Used for samurai in period dramas) and "fukurotsuki" (a wig with the hair tied up). Each type has three types: "kouramono" (with a top of the head), "supponmono" (a wig with a blue topknot), and "binmono" (a wig only for the temples)....
