Japanese: 剪灯新話 - せんとうしんわ

A collection of supernatural stories from the Ming Dynasty in China. The author was Qu You (1341-1427). 4 volumes. Qu You originally wrote the 40-volume "Jiandeng Lu" (Records of the Light of the Dynasty), but later wrote this book. It contains 21 short stories, and has a strong romanticism that draws on the tradition of Tang Dynasty legends. It has spawned many imitations in later generations, including the Edo period's "Otogiboko" and San'yutei Encho's "The Peony Lantern."

中国，明代の怪異小説集。作者は瞿佑(くゆう)〔1341-1427〕。４巻。瞿佑は初め《剪灯録》40巻を作ったが，その後この書を著したという。21編の短編が収められ，唐代伝奇の系統をひくロマン性が強い。後代，多くの模倣作を生んだが，日本では江戸期の《御伽婢子(おとぎぼうこ)》，三遊亭円朝の《牡丹灯籠》などがある。
