[Fault tree analysis (FTA)]
FTA is a method of analyzing the source (input) and the path of its occurrence by taking the undesirable event (output) as the apex and gradually expanding it like the branches of a tree toward the source. If the probability of occurrence of all inputs can be decomposed down to events (called basic events) whose occurrence probability can be quantitatively estimated, the output can be quantitatively estimated.
[Event tree analysis (ETA)]
Unlike FTA, ETA is a graphical analysis method that assumes that a failure (input) occurs in a component and analyzes what event (output) will develop over time. It also allows for quantitative analysis if the probability of each event occurring can be estimated.
[Operational Hazard Analysis]
It is carried out to detect hazards in equipment, personnel, and procedures during the manufacturing, testing, training, and operation stages.

　FTAは，その発生が好ましくない事象(出力)を頂点に取り上げ，木の枝のようにしだいに源泉の方に図式に展開して，その発生源(入力)およびその発生経路を解析する方法で，すべての入力の発生確率が定量的に推定できる事象(基本事象という)まで分解できると定量的に出力を推定することができる。
