Commercial guardhouse - Akinaibanya
In the Edo period, a guardhouse was a place where guards (called banta or bantaro) lived in the city of Edo, who were on night duty and did other chores within the neighborhood. They sold sandals, flower paper, candles, cheap sweets, roasted sweets, and other items as side jobs.
