…The mouth opens slightly diagonally forward and can extend slightly. In 1956, this species was announced as a new order, the order Eutaeniophorus, along with the ribbon anchovy Eutaeniophorus festivus and two other species. Because of the extremely low frequency of collections and the lack of research material, much remains unknown about the affinities between this group and other fishes.
