Agricultural Society of Japan - Nihon no Ugakkai

Japanese: 日本農学会 - にほんのうがっかい

An association that governs various societies related to agriculture in Japan. It was established with the aim of promoting closer communication between specialized societies in each of the fragmented fields of agriculture and the comprehensive development of agriculture and its technology, with the opportunity of the inaugural general meeting held in Tokyo in November 1929. Initially, 16 societies participated, but since then, newly established related societies have joined one after another, and now it is composed of 41 societies, including those on crops, horticulture, landscaping, weeds, grasslands, breeding, plant pathology, applied animal and insect life, sericulture, forestry, wood, soil fertilizer, agricultural chemistry, pesticides, agricultural civil engineering, agricultural machinery, agricultural facilities, agricultural meteorology, biological environment control, seawater, fisheries, livestock, poultry, veterinary medicine, agricultural economics, fisheries economics, and tropical agriculture. It is run by officers elected by each society, and its office is located within the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Tokyo.

日本の農学に関係する諸学会を統括する連合体。細分化された農学各分野の専門学会相互間の連絡を密にし，農学およびその技術の総合的発展を目ざすことを目的として1929年11月に東京で開催された設立総会を契機として発足した。最初16学会が参加したが，その後新しく設立された関連学会が順次加わって，現在は作物，園芸，造園，雑草，草地，育種，植物病理，応用動物昆虫，蚕糸，林学，木材，土壌肥料，農芸化学，農薬，農業土木，農業機械，農業施設，農業気象，生物環境調節，海水，水産，畜産，家禽（かきん），獣医，農業経済，漁業経済，熱帯農業など41学会より構成され，各学会より選出された役員によって運営され，事務所は東大農学部内にある。
