Ongjin Peninsula

It is a peninsula that juts out like a compound leaf from Ongjin in South Hwanghae Province, North Korea, towards Ganghwa Bay in the Yellow Sea. It is surrounded by the Kangnyeong Peninsula to the south. The southern part of the peninsula is south of the 38th parallel, but after the Korean War it became part of North Korean territory. The coast is a ria coastline, and seaweed and oysters are actively cultivated, and in the nearby waters there is also a large catch of croaker, cod, flounder, and sardines. Munwi Island and Ryongho Island at the head of the bay produce silica sand.

北朝鮮、黄海南道(こうかいなんどう／ファンヘナムド)の甕津から黄海の江華(こうか／カンホワ)湾に向けて複葉状に突出した半島。南方は康翎(こうれい)半島に囲まれている。半島の南部は38度線の南にあるが、朝鮮戦争後は北朝鮮の領域となっている。沿岸はリアス式の海岸を利用しノリ、カキの養殖を盛んに行っており、近海では、グチ、タラ、カレイ、イワシの漁獲も多い。湾頭にある巡威島、竜湖島ではケイ砂を産出している。
