...Its characteristics are represented by a frontal view depiction, rigid posture, line drawing, and a "realism" that reproduces the appearance in minute detail. This Parthian style of art can be seen in the rock reliefs of the Elymaïs (Elymaïde) kingdom in southern Iran and the sculptures excavated at Hatra in northern Iraq. These more or less reflect the Parthian court style, but their stylistic characteristics are a combination of Greek art and indigenous Oriental art, and they lack the strong originality and individuality of Achaemenid art.

…Parthian art refers to the art that flourished in Western Asia under the Arsacid dynasty (c. 247 BC - 226 AD), but it was not necessarily produced by the Parthians. It is broadly divided into early and late periods. The former (3rd century BC to 1st century BC) was heavily influenced by Greek art. In the latter (1st century to 3rd century), Greek characteristics receded, and in their place the tastes and aesthetic sense of Iranian peoples such as the Achaemenid Empire and Parthia, and indigenous peoples (e.g., the Kingdom of Elymais and the caravan city of Hatra) became prominent. …
