Ten Kings Sutra - Juougyō

This sutra describes how after a person dies, they are judged for their sins by ten kings. It is thought to be a false sutra that shows a mixture of Chinese folk beliefs and Buddhist beliefs. There are many versions, but the most widely circulated are the "Yemra King Juki Shishu Gyakushusei Shichigojo Jodo Sutra" from the Tang Dynasty and the "Jizo Bosatsu Hatsushin Inen Jikkyo Sutra" from the late Heian Period. 人の死後 10人の王によって生前の罪が裁かれることを記した経典。中国の民間信仰と仏教信仰との混合説を示す偽経と思われる。諸本があるが，唐代の『閻羅王授記四衆逆修生七往生浄土経』や平安時代末期の『地蔵菩薩発心因縁十王経』などが流布した。
