Perennial plant. The stem is usually short, and the leaves are basal. The petiole is 0.5-7.0 cm long, the leaf blade is 0.5-1.8 cm wide, and the surface is covered with numerous green to reddish purple glandular hairs 0.5-5 mm long. The Japanese name for this plant was given to this group of glandular hairs, which resemble a "foliage." The glandular hairs not only adhere to small animals, but also bend in 15-20 minutes due to changes in volume caused by changes in turgor pressure and cell elongation caused by indole acetic acid, moving the prey to the center of the leaf blade and enveloping it. ...
