Midori [town] - Midori
An old town in the Chugoku Mountains, bordering Takada County, Hiroshima Prefecture and Shimane Prefecture. The Chugoku Expressway runs through the town. In addition to forestry, the town also cultivates rice, livestock and vegetables. Kagura and Dengaku are traditional dances. The town is the site of an ancient battle between the Mori and Amago clans in 1540. In March 2004, the town merged with Yoshida Town, Yachiyo Town, Takamiya Town, Koda Town and Mukaihara Town in Takada County to form Aki-Takata City. Area: 123.25 km2 . Population: 3,528 (2003).
