...The sonnets that make up his later poetry, along with the long poem "A Funeral Toast" (1872), are all self-contained word architectures carefully constructed while giving words the initiative, and show the limits of expression in a single language. From 1885 onwards, his literary theories, which crystallized his many years of thought, were published in various magazines, and these, along with his prose poems, were collected in "Divagations" (1897).
