A phenomenon in which liquid moves through the pores when a liquid is separated by a porous solid wall and a DC voltage is applied to electrodes immersed in the liquid on both sides. When easily mobile charges in the electric double layer that exists at the interface between a liquid and a solid are moved by an electric field, the liquid is carried along with them. Along with electrophoresis, this is an important phenomenon in interfacial electrochemistry.

液体を有孔固体壁で仕切り，両側の液体に浸した電極に直流電圧をかけると，液体が孔を通して移動する現象。液体と固体の界面に存在する電気二重層のうち，移動しやすい電荷が電場により動かされるときに，液体を一緒に運ぶ。電気泳動とともに，界面電気化学における重要な現象である。
