Order of the Knights of St. John the Blessed of Jerusalem

…One of the three major orders of knights in medieval Western Europe. Its official name is the Order of Saint John the Helper of Jerusalem. It was founded in the late 11th century by Gérard, a monk from southern France, as a refuge for pilgrims on the Holy Land, and was officially recognized in 1113 by a papal bull from Pope Paschal II.
