...Life expectancy in captivity is over 16 years. It is very similar in appearance to the pacarana (Dinomys branickii) that lives in the highlands of Colombia and Bolivia, but it has a body length of 73 to 79 cm and a long tail of about 20 cm. It is distantly related to the pacarana, which belongs to the rodent family Pacarana.
