Tagajo [city] - Tagajo
Located in central Miyagi Prefecture, between the cities of Sendai and Shiogama. Established as a city in 1971. In ancient times, Taga Castle and the Mutsu provincial capital were located here. The Tohoku Main Line and the Senseki Line run through the city, and precision machinery, metal, and other factories have been established along Route 45 and on the site of the former naval arsenal. Since the Sendai Bay area was designated a new industrial city in 1964, it has developed as part of the Senshio Industrial Region. The city suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 19.69 km2 . 63,060 people (2010).
