Desert pavement

Japanese: desert pavement（英語表記）desertpavement

...the vertical cross section is parallel to the wind direction, rounded on the windward side, and narrow and gently sloping on the leeward side. Examples of landforms formed by deflation include desert pavement and blowout. The former is a surface that looks like a layer of gravel, created when sand and dust are blown away by the wind and large pebbles and boulders are left behind. In the Sahara Desert, it is called reg or serir, and in Australia it is called gibber plain.

...Rocky deserts are called hamada (derived from the Arabic name for the plateau desert found in the Sahara), and can be either exposed rock beds rubbed with sand or covered with gravel and debris. The ground covered with gravel is called desert pavement or Gibber Plain in Australia, and is formed when deflation blows away sand and rocks, leaving behind gravel and rock masses. Desert pavement, where small gravel is piled on top of the soil, is called reg in the western Sahara and serir in the eastern Sahara.
