Deck

…The word is derived from the French nappe (table cloth) and can also be read as nappe. The German synonym is Decke. There are several theories about its origin, including that it was formed when the lower inversion wing finally broke off at a more advanced stage of the recumbent fold, or that it was formed when a former topographical high slid down due to gravity.
