…In terms of sculpture, the Cathedral of Trogir has a facade by Radovan (date of birth and death unknown) made in 1240. Gothic motifs were brought from Venice by Juraj Dalmatinac (?-1473) to the Cathedral of Šibenik, and the Florentine Nikola Firentinac (?-1505) made a chapel in Trogir in a purely Renaissance style. And the fact that Luciano Laurana (?-1479), born near Zadar, worked at the courts of Urbino and Naples, and that Ivan Duknović (c. 1440-after 1509), born in Trogir and known in Rome as Giovanni Dalmata, was called to Hungary by King Matthias, proves that a strong tradition had already developed in Dalmatia at that time. …
