Tokiwazu Matsuo Dayu

Japanese: 常磐津松尾太夫 - ときわづまつおだゆう

Stage name of a Tokiwazu performer. There have been four generations. The first was born and died unknown. First seen in the 1836 manuscript. The second was Tokiwazu Hayashinaka, and the third (1875-1947) was born under the real name of Fukuda Kanekichi. Born in Zushi. A man of beautiful voice, he was one of the great masters of the Taisho and early Showa periods. The fourth (1927-) was born under the real name of Fukuda Kazuo. Born in Tokyo with the third as his grandfather. He studied under his grandparents, mother, and uncle, and succeeded the fourth.
