...Life tables are also used as a powerful criterion for judging the quality of the natural and social health conditions of a country or region. There are two types of life tables, generation life tables and ordinary life tables, which are created using different methods. The former concretely show how many deaths and survivors have occurred historically for a group of people born in a certain year under a natural and social environment that changes from year to year. In contrast, the latter ordinary life tables, also called current life tables or instantaneous life tables, are created based on the death rate calculated using the population and death numbers for each age group in different years of birth.
